Streets & Sidewalks
If you have concerns related to Village streets, please contact the Village Municipal Office.
Please check our map to ensure you actually live within the Village boundaries.
Having a Galena mailing address does not mean you live in the Village.
Snow Removal
When ice or two or more inches of snow fall within a 24-hour period, a snow emergency is in effect. Between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., all vehicles should be moved off all village streets to allow safer plowing. Vehicles not moved may be towed at the owner's expense.
During any bad winter weather, having vehicles off the streets and out of the road
right-of-ways assists with our snow removal efforts.
Please do not move snow into the road right-of-way or onto sidewalks.
It is each property owner's responsibility to maintain his/her sidewalks for safe passage by all. For owners of new sidewalks, it is recommended not to use salt or other chemicals until the concrete has cured for at least a year. Adding grit for traction is fine.
